I pay taxes. But, I do not begrudge the working poor some meager assistance to make their lives not a complete living hell.

I look forward to increasing my earnings and actually having to pay more in taxes. But what does not make sense is that if I make enough money, my taxes will go to a lower percentage? Huh? Where is the sense in that?

I am responsible for myself. I do not over extend my debt. I haven't really saved for retirement like I should have, but I'll correct that in the next few years. But, just because I am fortunate enough to have learned the importance of education and work, I do not think those that are not as educated or fortunate enough to be making a decent wage should have to suffer needlessly.

I am not rich. I may top out at six figures somewhere down the road, but may not even make it to that milestone. However, I do not believe that those people earning poverty wages should be looked upon as less than I. I do believe that if a family of four is making 20-30 thousand dollars a year, they probably need help. When you work forty hours a week and are raising children, it becomes very difficult to go back to school to get better training and education. The cost itself is prohibitive, but the time and energy it takes is herculean.

If those people need help with food and shelter? I hope my tax dollars are available for them. I want my tax dollars to pay for roads, bridges, and schools. I want everyone to have the ability to live the American dream. Not just the top percent. And with the current economic reality; it is becoming more and more expensive to get a degree or training. It is getting harder to own a home. But it is only getting harder for the majority of American workers, not the top 1%.

Don't hate. Help your fellow Americans move up. Do not knock a person down when they are already suffering. You can not take wealth with you when you die. Why not help more people succeed instead of belittling those who are not?Whatever Workshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17359600154796941418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8920077044928816932.post-16231394853819834482012-04-16T21:41:54.897-07:002012-04-16T21:41:54.897-07:00Hey Anonymous 1...the point is that there is so mu...Hey Anonymous 1...the point is that there is so much lack of true Christian spirit/love/heart in today's wealthy that a feeble attempt at a policy change is brought up because that class of people will not do it on their own as a whole for the right reason. There are many that have given their table scraps and they get a write off for it or other selfish motivation. As a whole most have to be told to do it. Jesus laid out that Christianity is not a label or a political party but a true Christian heart is a way of life in which one puts the needs of others in front of their own for no personal gain. (usually the exact opposite). You are correct in that Policy cannot produce real charity but the fact that we have to try via politics is the indicator as to how far removed the blessed in our Nation are from a heart that gives and more fundamentally...sees the big "christian picture."
In no place did i nor the article say one must give. If one is claiming to be Christian however, giving IS the way of life and one should refrain from calling themselves Christian if they do not adhere to this basic principle of the belief system. Perhaps they should call themselves "a Christian work in Progress." The article was simply pointing out that those that self profess to represent Christianity, should check their personal record compared to that which they claim to represent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8920077044928816932.post-83472979083782566392012-04-16T21:23:43.980-07:002012-04-16T21:23:43.980-07:00When they use Jesus to get elected; they can not d...When they use Jesus to get elected; they can not divorce their ideology from his teachings once they get in office. The verses that you quote do not tell us to give our money to the government to help the poor. It is our responsibility to help the poor but gov't is not even close to the best way of doing so. It is good that you are reading your Bible though!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8920077044928816932.post-91528697279328134662012-04-16T21:17:35.458-07:002012-04-16T21:17:35.458-07:00No. It's not ridiculous.

How can you possibly feel good about being manipulated like that?Meester Creesthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14181942566390444905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8920077044928816932.post-16742751220567796632012-04-16T21:01:01.357-07:002012-04-16T21:01:01.357-07:00Republicans would like to give Christians the powe...Republicans would like to give Christians the power to choose where their money goes instead of handing it off to the government.
Last time I checked, we should be giving out of a cheerful heart (2 Corinthians 9:7), not out of a mandatory government program.
Now, I'm not bashing on taxes. I'm just saying, it's ridiculous to link verses on charity to tax policies.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
