Subsidiarity without Subsidium

Subsidiarity without Subsidium is Heresy or Apostasy. The Ryan Budget Plan is antithetical to the moral obligation of government that is for the people.

To quote Thomas Reese: "Everybody's worried about the debt, but you can't quote the pope to say that the debt should be solved by cutting government programs that help poor people and not raising taxes."

More interestingly is an excerpt from the following article:

As the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has wisely noted in several letters to Congress, "A just framework for future budgets cannot rely on disproportionate cuts in essential services to poor persons." Catholic bishops recently wrote that "the House-passed budget resolution fails to meet these moral criteria." In short, your budget appears to reflect the values of your favorite philosopher, Ayn Rand, rather than the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her call to selfishness and her antagonism toward religion are antithetical to the Gospel values of compassion and love.

I wasn't necessarily thinking in terms of the pope, but I know enough about the religions of the world to know that the poor and the infirm are to be looked out for. Where has this antithetical religion of the right come from?

They are certainly not leading with christian values. My own take on it is: This is most certainly not what any religion extolls their followers to be. So what religion are these congressmen preaching from?

And finally some clergy is actually stepping up and saying... "Hey, wait a minute. that's not right." I knew these guys were bastardizing theology but couldn't really put it into words as well as this article:

So basically Subsidiarity without Subsidium is heresy or apostasy.

Ryans' got some 'splaining to do.

Senate GOP vs. House GOP

Today is a day of amazement. On April 16th, the Senate Republicans blocked a bill that would have raised $47 billion over 10 years. And today, April 19th, the House Republicans voted en masse to pass a bill that would cut taxes by $46 billion with no way to pay for such a giveaway. It is amazing that more people are not outraged. Most news organizations reported the information. But, it seems as if it is just a couple unrelated blips on the daily news cycle.

How can anyone believe that the Republicans are in any way acting in the best interests of the American people? And yet here it is, another day; another… What can this be called? A few colorful colloquialisms do come to mind and a torrent of emotion swirls; but in the end all that is left is bewilderment. What do you call a legislative body that fights so hard to destroy the economic fabric of a society? What do you call them but treasonous. So it is, another day; another treason.

The Democrats are no saints in this debacle either. It is through attrition and a lack of resolve that this oppositional relationship has been established. Time and time again America has watched its democratic leaders acquiesce to unpopular legislation for reasons unknown. Someone needs to stand up to ignorance. Someone needs to stand for common sense. Someone needs to stand up to their corporate sponsors and pledge to work for a united citizenry.

Decades of tax cuts have depleted the economy. The Post Office is one of the few governmental organizations that are constitutionally proscribed as a necessity. Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution instructs legislators "To establish Post Offices and post Roads." And yet, congress has saddled The United States Post Office with unreasonable debt and an inadequate ability to thrive. These legislators who have sworn an oath to uphold the constitution are more concerned about an oath to Grover Norquist. When does America get to charge its legislators with treason for their mismanagement of the country?

Please America!? Please Vote!

But take a look before you vote! Who has signed a pledge other than their oath to uphold The Constitution of America? Who votes to protect millionaires and billionaires at the expense of 100’s of millions of Americans? Who is voting to hurt the elders of America? Who wants to tear away the safety net that has been established for the sick and the poor? Who wants to legislate what occurs between a woman and her doctor? Who is really voting against freedom?

Vote America! Please, for the love of God, VOTE!
